Good morning and Good afternoon, brother and sister in Christ. I hope this little study be a blessing to you. It's no mystery what the subject is "Easter v.s. The biblical Sabbath."
Question: What is Easter? the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and held (in the Western Church) between March 21 and April 25, on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the northern spring equinox.(google web search)
Answer: it's a festival.
Question: Where did it originated?
Most reference books say that the name “Easter” derived from the Eastre, the Teutonic goddess of Spring. Although this relationship exists, in reality, the origin of the name and the goddess are far more ancient—going all the way back to the Tower of Babel. The origin begins not long after the biblical Flood. Web content, "http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-t020.html"
Answer: Tower of Babel.
Question: Who does ths festival or holiday honor or worship?
When Nimrod eventually died, the Babylonian religion in which he figured prominently continued on. His wife/queen saw to that. Once he was dead, she deified him as the Sun-god. In various cultures he later became known as Baal, the Great Life Giver, the god of fire, Baalim, Bel, Molech, etc.
“Later, when this adulterous and idolatrous woman gave birth to an illegitimate son, she claimed that this son, Tammuz by name, was Nimrod reborn.” Easter/Ishatar “claimed that her son was supernaturally conceived [no human father] and that he was the promised seed, the ‘savior’”—promised by God in Genesis 3:15. “However, not only was the child worshipped, but the woman, the MOTHER, was also worshipped as much (or more) than the son!” Nimrod deified as the god of the sun and father of creation. Easter became the goddess of the moon, fertility, etc. Web content, www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/edn-t020.html
Answer: false gods.
Question: should true Christian take part of this festival or holiday? Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20;3-6 KJV.
Answer: NO!
Question: What is the Sabbath?
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words. Isaiah 58:13, KJV.
Answer: God's holy and honourable day.
Question: where and when was the Sabbath originated?
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Answer: The Sabbath has its origin since the creation.
Question: should the Sabbath be honoured and kept, in this present time.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20;8-11 KJV. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. Isaiah 66;23 KJV. If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 15;14 KJV. Also John 15;10.
Answer: Yes! We should honoured and kept the Sabbath. If we love Christ we would keep his law, including the fourth commandments which tells us to remember the Sabbath.
Conclusion:
Nowhere in the Holy scriptures are we encouraged to keep any man made festival. We are commanded to keep the Sabbath holy only! The Sabbath is our sign of allegiance To the true God. When is the Sabbath you might say? It comes every seventh day so from Sunday to Saturday that is seven days. May this information be a blessing to you and your family.
